Underrated European Cities

Everyone loves a European Adventure, visiting old favourites such as Paris, Madrid, Rome and London. Although once we have visited the classics, we occasionally fail to notice the smaller, under the radar cities. It could be time for you to head to one of these underrated cities in Europe

Lyon, France
The third-largest city in France, Lyon is a great weekend escape for couples because of the vibrant nightlife, cultural style, a selection of museums and so much shopping it will give Paris a run for its money. Be sure to check out the Musée des beaux-arts de Lyon and Parc de la Tête d'Or, France's largest outdoor park.

Gothenburg, Sweden
Spelt Göteborg; this city is considered as a cooler, less expressive version of Stockholm. Amongst the city’s creative atmosphere you can look forward to the stylish cafes, eye-catching architecture, street art and artisan shopping. There is also Liseberg amusement park, a selection of museums and Nearby archipelagos welcome explorers.

Porto, Portugal
Famous for port wine, the history of this city dates back to the Roman era, and today it’s a multi-coloured romantic city with rich history and culture. Visitors should check out the historic centre in the city, (also known as the Ribiera district) the Museu de Arte Contemporânea and the Casa da Música. As mentioned before Porto is the birthplace of port wine, so get ready to drink.

Rhodes, Greece
Enclosed by some of the bluest seawaters you will possibly ever see, Rhodes is overflowing with historic sites and modern luxuries. In the Old Town you'll discover a network of ancient streets, Roman remains, medieval castles and Byzantine mosques. In the New Town, shop at the high-class boutiques, bistros, bars and visit breath-taking beaches. Don't forget to take a trip to the Mandraki Harbor.

Split, Croatia
The second largest city in Croatia but recognised as a seaside town, Split has a heap of historic surprises. The city is home to Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with bars, restaurants and shopping. Split has the best of both worlds and the city's coastal mountain backdrop couldn’t be better.

Ljubljana, Slovenia
Ljubljana may well be the prettiest city you haven't been to yet. The capital city of Slovenia lays claim to a blend of cultures, including German, Slovenian and Mediterranean. A medieval castle hovers over Ljubljana, just outside the city centre. Ljubljana was ranked No.2 in the Lonely Planet’s Best of Europe 2014.
